3Key Consulting Inc. is recruiting for an Associate Scientist with 1 - 4 years’ experience (depending on education), in protein biochemistry and proficiency in analytical methodologies such as chromatography and ELN for a global, CA-based, bio-pharmaceutical company.
 
Job Description:
Based in Cambridge, MA, the role of Associate – Pivotal Drug Product Technologies will be to provide support for Amgen’s biologics drug product and process design. The Associate will work closely with a team of engineers and scientists responsible for the technical aspect of Amgen’s drug product and process development.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Support formulation and process development of protein drug candidates.
  • Apply fundamental protein chemistry principles to identifying and resolving issues related to protein formulation and process development.
  • Study coordination and sample management.
  • Contemporaneously record all data in electronic lab notebook format.
  • Communication of findings in oral presentations and written reports.
  • Lab operations, including instrument management and troubleshooting.
 
The ideal candidate would possess:
  • Experience in protein formulation and stability studies.
  • Experience with drug product process development for biologics.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting HPLCs and UPLCs.
  • Working knowledge of Chromeleon for HPLC analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Empower for UPLC analysis.
  • Experience in subvisible particle assays (HIAC, MFI) a plus.
  • Experience with capillary electrophoresis (CE) a plus.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and follow procedures is critical.
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills, multi-tasking, and ability to elevate relevant issues to project or supervisory lead.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and concepts independently and by recruiting the expertise of others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
 
Top Must-Have Skill Sets:
  • Experience in protein biochemistry.
  • Proficiency in operating HPLCs and UPLCs including working knowledge of Chromeleon/Empower/Chemstation for HPLC/UPLC analysis.
  • Experience with Electronic lab notebook.
 
Day to Day Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:
B.S. or B.A. with 2 years’ experience or M.S. with 0-2 years’ experience in analytical chemistry or biochemistry, and degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Life Sciences with a pharmaceutical, vaccine, or biotechnology background.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred.
