3 Key Consulting is hiring an Engineer for a consulting engagement with our direct client, a leading global biopharmaceutical company.

Job Description:
This position reports into the Primary Container Engineering department within the CORE Group within the Combination Product Organization in Thousand Oaks. This position supports senior staff in the initiation, design, and delivery of projects, particularly in primary container design, characterization, and qualification. This position requires the application of engineering principles to perform the job functions and the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across different functions to successfully complete projects.  This role will be required to:
  • Employ basic engineering skills and practices to gather user requirements and translate them into technical documentation for execution.
  • Assist with project definition by performing engineering studies/assessments for drug delivery systems for characterization or qualification in a GMP environment.
  • Perform field evaluations of existing systems and provide engineering design recommendations.
  • Design and develop of primary container systems.
  • Provide detailed data analysis to and recommendations to enable senior staff to make informed decisions.

Top Must Have Skills:
  • B.S. in Engineering.
  • Effective Communicator (Oral/Written).
  • Technical Writing (Protocols, Reports, Technical Assessments, Presentations).

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Strong team work, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • At least 1-3 years of work experience as an engineer in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong mechanical engineering and material science knowledge.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with computer programming in Matlab.
  • Strong technical writing skill.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience (pharmaceutical industry, primary containers, medical devices, etc.).
  • Lab/Testing experience.
  • Data analysis (software: e.g. JMP, Minitab).
  • Project management / Multi-tasker to enable managing multiple deliverables/priorities.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks/CAD/Drawings/Assemblies.
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFX)/Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Design Controls / Combination Products.
  • Regulatory Standards.
  • Problem solving / Root Cause Analysis.
  • Strong individual contributor.
  • Strong team player.
  • Fast and continuous learner.
  • Flexible/Highly adaptive to continuous changing priorities/environment.

Employee Value Proposition:
Provides strong technical development and experience with drug products & primary container systems.

Red Flags:
  • Overqualified for position - for example, +5 years of industry experience.
  • Excessive movement between employers with short duration for each - for example, less than 6 months at say 3 companies.
  • No mechanical engineering, SolidWorks, or work experience.
  • Poor communication.
  • Poor presentation skills
