Job Summary:
Hiring manager is looking for candidates to manage staff or do lab work. The person in the role will be responsible for lab operations. Seeking candidates with no more than 4 years of experience.
Equipment/Instrument Management
- Point of contact (POC) for coordinating all lab equipment maintenance, calibrations, and repairs, and communications to staff
- Work with Lab Concierge to initiate work orders for equipment repairs and maintenance
- Work with Lab Concierge for installation of new equipment, removal/donation of old equipment, coordinating change control with EHSS
- POC for equipment alarms and excursions and facilitate recovery efforts
- Coordinate pipette pickups for calibrations, maintain adequate supply of pipettes, and investigate any missing instruments.
Laboratory Housekeeping
- Help ensure general tidiness of the labs and adherence to 5S principles
- 5S representative for the department
- Organize regular lab cleanout activities
- Support the Lab Safety Officer to enforce lab safety and EHSS compliance
- Ensure Point of Use supply room is organized and orderly
- Responsible for ordering special/alternative consumables as needed
- Receive shipments and distribute to staff as appropriate or store at recommended temperature
- Regular cleaning of lab incubators and water level check
- Responsible for cleaning and organizing freezers
- Assign shelf space in refrigerators and freezers for new staff
- Order lab coats for new staff and replace old/damaged ones as needed
- Order general use media for the department and review batch records
- Generate and maintain stock solutions
- Daily walkthroughs of labs to ensure proper equipment setpoints and functionality
Top Must have Skill Sets:
- Must have previous experience managing lab operations
- Familiarity with safety protocols, SOPs, and SDS.
- Knowledge of fundamental laboratory techniques
- Organizations
- Operate and understand equipment per procedure
- Highly collaborative
